As a Crane Operator, you will play a crucial role in the construction, manufacturing, or logistics industry, operating cranes to lift, move, and position heavy materials and equipment.

To join our team, you must be comfortable with the following:

  • Crane Operation: Safely operate various types of cranes, including mobile cranes, tower cranes, or overhead cranes, by manufacturer guidelines and industry best practices.
  • Load Management: Determine appropriate lifting equipment, rigging methods, and load capacities based on the weight, size, and shape of the load. Safely maneuver and position loads using the crane controls, ensuring stability and balance.
  • Safety Compliance: Comply with all safety regulations, standards, and procedures while operating the crane. Conduct pre-operational checks, inspect equipment for any defects, and report any malfunctions or safety concerns to the supervisor.
  • Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with ground personnel, spotters, and other workers involved in the lifting and moving operations. Follow hand signals, radio instructions, or other designated communication methods to ensure safe coordination.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and inspections on cranes, including checking fluid levels, inspecting cables and hooks, and ensuring proper functionality. Report any maintenance needs or equipment defects promptly.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of daily activities, including lift logs, maintenance records, and any incidents or near misses. Complete required paperwork, such as work permits or logbooks, accurately and promptly.
  • Problem-Solving: Assess potential risks or challenges related to lifting operations and develop effective solutions to ensure safe and efficient work processes. Make sound decisions and take appropriate action in emergencies.
  • Training and Compliance: Stay up to date with industry regulations, standards, and technological advancements related to crane operations. Attend relevant training programs or certifications to enhance skills and maintain compliance.

To be eligible, you must have:

  • Experience: Proven experience as a Crane Operator, operating various types of cranes in construction, manufacturing, or logistics settings. Experience with both mobile and tower cranes is preferred.
  • Certification: Possession of a valid crane operator certification/license is essential. Relevant certifications such as a High-Risk Work License or Construction Induction Card are advantageous.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of crane operations, load charts, rigging techniques, and safe lifting practices. Proficiency in using crane controls and interpreting signals from spotters or ground personnel.
  • Safety Consciousness: Demonstrated commitment to safety, with a thorough understanding of relevant safety regulations, procedures, and risk assessments. Ability to identify and mitigate potential hazards during crane operations.
  • Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including climbing, bending, and lifting heavy loads. Good hand-eye coordination, depth perception, and spatial awareness.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with team members, supervisors, and other stakeholders. Ability to follow instructions accurately and relay information.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure precise load positioning, accurate documentation, and compliance with operational procedures.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to work in different environments and adapt to changing work schedules, including the ability to work extended hours, weekends, or overtime as required.
