As a Yard Hand, you will play a crucial role in supporting various operations within a yard or facility, ensuring the smooth flow of materials, equipment, and vehicles.

To join our team, you must be comfortable with the following:

• Yard Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the yard or facility by removing debris, garbage, or other obstructions. Conduct routine inspections to identify and report any maintenance or repair needs.
• Vehicle and Equipment Management: Assist with the movement and organisation of vehicles, equipment, or machinery within the yard. Coordinate with drivers, operators, or supervisors to ensure efficient flow and proper parking or storage of assets.
• Material Handling: Assist in loading and unloading materials, products, or equipment as needed. Safely operate manual or motorised equipment, such as pallet jacks or hand trucks, to transport goods within the yard or facility.
• Inventory Control: Assist in inventory management by conducting periodic stock counts and reconciling inventory records. Report any discrepancies or shortages to the supervisor and participate in periodic stocktake activities.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures to maintain a safe working environment. Identify and report any potential hazards or safety concerns to the supervisor immediately.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of yard activities, such as vehicle movement logs, equipment usage records, or inventory documentation. Complete paperwork accurately and promptly.
• Communication: Maintain effective communication with team members, drivers, and supervisors to coordinate workflow, prioritise tasks, and ensure smooth operations within the yard. Report any issues or concerns promptly.
• Customer Service: Provide a high level of customer service to internal and external stakeholders. Assist with inquiries, direct visitors or drivers, and offer assistance as needed.

To be eligible, you must have:

• Experience: Previous experience in a similar yard hand or general labour role is preferred. Experience in a warehouse, logistics, or construction environment is advantageous.
• Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects, bending, and standing for extended periods. Good overall physical fitness and the ability to work in varying weather conditions.
• Safety Consciousness: Strong commitment to safety, with knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to yard operations. Awareness of potential hazards and ability to follow safety protocols.
• Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate recording of information, proper placement of materials, and compliance with operational procedures.
• Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with team members, drivers, and other stakeholders. Ability to follow instructions accurately and relay information.
• Organisation Skills: Strong organisational skills to maintain an orderly yard or facility, effectively track inventory, and locate equipment or materials as needed.
• Adaptability: Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment, adapt to changing priorities, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Driver's License: Possession of a valid driver's license is preferred but not mandatory.
