Are you an experienced Excavator Operator?
As an Excavator Operator with GPS, you will play a pivotal role in construction, earthmoving, and civil engineering projects, utilising GPS technology to ensure precise excavation and grading operations.
For this role, you must be comfortable with the following:
- Excavation and Grading: Operate excavators equipped with GPS technology to perform excavation, digging, trenching, and grading tasks according to project specifications. Ensure accurate and precise work to achieve desired levels and slopes.
- GPS Technology: Utilise GPS systems to interpret and follow construction plans, designs, and digital models. Implement precise measurements and coordinates for excavation and grading operations, minimising errors and optimising efficiency.
- Site Preparation: Prepare work areas before excavation, including marking boundaries, removing obstacles, and ensuring proper ground conditions. Collaborate with site supervisors and engineers to understand project requirements.
- Equipment Maintenance: Conduct routine pre-operational checks on the excavator and associated equipment. Report any malfunctions, defects, or maintenance needs to the supervisor and ensure equipment cleanliness and functionality.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines, both for equipment operation and construction site practices. Identify potential hazards and implement safety measures to prevent accidents or injuries.
- Material Handling: Load, unload, and move various materials using the excavator's attachment, such as buckets or grapples. Safely transport materials around the construction site as required.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of daily activities, including work performed, materials moved, and any incidents or near misses. Complete required paperwork and digital documentation accurately and promptly.
- Communication: Maintain effective communication with site supervisors, fellow operators, and other team members to coordinate tasks, prioritise work, and ensure smooth operations on the construction site.
To be eligible, you must have:
- Experience: Proven experience as an Excavator Operator with GPS technology, preferably in construction or civil engineering projects. Proficiency in using GPS systems for excavation and grading is essential.
- Certification: Possession of a valid excavator operator's license or certification is required. Additional certifications such as Construction Induction (White Card) and GPS operation are advantageous.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of excavator operation, GPS technology, and reading construction plans. Proficiency in using controls, attachments, and GPS systems to achieve precise results.
- Safety Consciousness: Demonstrated commitment to safety, with a thorough understanding of relevant safety regulations, procedures, and risk assessments. Ability to identify and mitigate potential hazards during excavation and grading operations.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including operating controls for extended periods, climbing in and out of the excavator, and working in varying weather conditions.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with team members, supervisors, and other stakeholders. Ability to follow instructions accurately and relay information clearly.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to analyse construction plans, identify potential challenges, and develop solutions to achieve accurate excavation and grading outcomes.
- Adaptability: Willingness to work in different environments, adapt to changing work schedules, and work extended hours or overtime as required by project demands.
